It's a stressful life

Jack had a lot of seizures yesterday.  He had one every hour from 5pm til 9pm then finally fell asleep.  That made 11 seizures in total throughout the day.  One in particular he stopped breathing for just over a minute and it was so violent that he was half way out of his chair by the time he was finished.  He was strapped in too so I just unclipped him and let him slide down to the floor with my support.

I haven't intervened with rescue meds because they are not too bad yet but if he starts having clusters or any over 10 mins then I will.  Sometimes they just settle down but when they don't, even intervention doesn't stop them and we end up in hospital.

On top of that, Holly had a total melt down as she is feeling totally exhausted and overwhelmed with the workload she has at school.  Add to that all the other activities she has on at the moment: rehearsals for one play and a musical, Mask Theatre, activities with Outfit Moray, filming for a web series and horse riding then it's no wonder that she is feeling exhausted.

She loves all these things so I can't even begin to suggest that she gives one up but luckily the play and the musical will all be done and dusted by the time April is finished. I can't wait to see her in the play which was originally part of the Moray Drama Festival but the festival had to be cancelled because the organizer became very ill. So now some of the drama groups, rather than cancel the whole thing, have got together and plan to put them on themselves in smaller venues. Her play is on Thursday 7th April and I am so looking forward to it.

The musical this year is Fiddler on the Roof.  Holly is playing the part of the ghost of Grandma Tzeital and has one song to sing.  She just loves the part. I think this is the 5th show she has been in with the St Giles Theatre Group.  The cast consist of about 120 kids aged from 10-18 and the shows are always amazing.  The kids just love it and they perform for 4 consecutive nights to a packed out venue.

So we are going to be very busy over the next few months what with all that and exams.  I tell you, I wouldn't be a teenager again for all the tea in China.  Once was enough for me.

  1. You both have a rugged schedule so I feel for both of you. I agree that being a teenager, especially today with all the new pressures they have on them is so tough and I wouldn't dream of wanting to go through what she is going through. Tell her I am very proud of her for accomplishing so much. Makes my time as a teenager seem like I was asleep in comparison. Tell Jack I hope today is kinder to him.

  2. Oh Lindy, what a day. Poor Jack must be exhausted,as well as yourself.
the play sounds lots of fun for Holly even though tiring with all thats happening. Sometimes an outburst, jsut clears the way for head down bum up.
    Hugs to you all :)

  3. Wow, so much going on. I hope you can all find time to get some rest. Sending thoughts and prayers that things smoothe out for your son. Will he get to go to his sister's performance? That would be the cat's pajamas! Take care. - G

  8. Ohh, it sounds like you two have your hands full. I know how Holly feels with all the work to do, it gets overwhelming at times, hence why it is just about a quarter after midnight and I have just started my laundry. I'm in for a long night.

On another note, I love Fiddler on the Roof! Grandma Tzeital is one of my favorite characters and I love the song she sings. Although my favorite part is when they sing To Life :D

I do hope Jack's seizures get better <3
